JSW Energy adds 261 MW renewable capacity

JSW Energy Limited (JSWEL) has commissioned a total of 261 MW in wind and solar capacity. This includes 189 MW of solar and 72 MW of wind projects, pushing the company’s total installed capacity to 12,760 MW.
This expansion brings JSW Energy’s total additions for the first quarter of FY 2025-26 to 1.9 GW. The growth includes both organic and inorganic additions. Renewables now account for 56 per cent of the company’s installed capacity, with 3,554 MW of wind, 2,157 MW of solar, and 1,391 MW of hydro capacity.
The company currently holds a locked-in portfolio of 29.9 GW. This includes 12.8 GW operational, 12.5 GW under construction, and 4.6 GW in the pipeline. JSW Energy also has 29.3 GWh of locked-in energy storage capacity, including 26.4 GWh in hydro pumped storage and 2.9 GWh in battery storage.
Recently, its subsidiary signed a deal with Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited to develop a 250 MW/500 MWh battery storage system in Rajasthan.
Previous month, JSW Energy signed two long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs). On June 25, 2025, Energizent Power Private Limited signed a 25-year PPA with NHPC Limited for a 300 MW ISTS-connected wind-solar hybrid project in Rajasthan and Andhra Pradesh. Earlier, on June 5, 2025, JSW Renew Energy Three Limited signed a 25-year PPA with Adani Electricity Mumbai Limited for a 250 MW STU-connected wind project in Barshi, Maharashtra.
JSW Energy aims to scale its generation capacity to 30 GW and energy storage to 40 GWh by FY 2030. It has also committed to achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.
