Renewable energy firm JERA Nex has formed a strategic partnership with Catalyst Energy Partners (CEP) to accelerate clean energy deployment across the United States.

This collaboration aims to develop, construct, own, and operate new utility-scale renewable energy facilities, leveraging existing grid infrastructure alongside conventional power plants.

Through this partnership, JERA Nex will provide financial backing, strategic insights, and operational expertise to support CEP’s clean energy projects. CEP brings a portfolio of development-stage renewable assets and an innovative approach to integrating clean energy with existing grid systems, enabling minimal impact on infrastructure.

JERA Nex’s VP of onshore development, Richard Scott, emphasized that this partnership aligns with JERA Nex’s goal of scaling renewables globally. CEP CEO Matt Cheney highlighted the shared vision for repurposing conventional facilities to meet rising renewable energy demand in the US.

JERA Nex, launched in April 2024 as a renewable subsidiary of Japan’s JERA, recently expanded its US presence by acquiring the 300MW Oxbow solar farm in Louisiana and the 95MW Happy solar farm in Arkansas from Lightsource bp.
