JERA-led consortium to operate offshore wind project in Japan

JERA Co., Inc., Green Power Investment Co., Ltd. (GPI), and Tohoku Electric Power Co., Inc. (Tohoku Electric) have formed a consortium led by JERA to operate a 615 MW offshore wind project in the Sea of Japan, off the southern coast of Aomori Prefecture.
Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport, and Tourism selected the consortium to develop the project.
Operations are expected to begin in June 2030. The project focuses on long-term, stable, and efficient offshore wind power generation and will align with the principles outlined in the Council’s report regarding the Sea of Japan Offshore Aomori Prefecture.
