ISGEC Heavy Engineering Limited has secured a contract valued at Rs 1,867.35 million for renovation and modernisation (R&M) of electrostatic precipitators (ESPs) for Units 4 to 6 of the Kolaghat Thermal Power Plant in West Bengal. The tender was floated by West Bengal Power Development Corporation Limited (WBPDCL) in January 2024.

The contract forms part of the Kolaghat Thermal Power Upgradation Project and is expected to be completed in 900 days.

The plant, located in Purba Medinipur district, comprises six units of 210 MW each and was commissioned in January 1994. The R&M project, with an overall investment of Rs 10 billion, was initiated following pollution-related restrictions imposed by the National Green Tribunal (NGT).
