Hindustan Zinc Limited has signed a power delivery agreement (PDA) with Serentica Renewables India Private Limited (SRIPL) to procure 530 MW of round-the-clock (RTC) renewable energy.
Under the agreement, SRIPL will supply 315 MW of uninterrupted renewable power to Hindustan Zinc in every 15-minute time block.
The project involves the development of a 530 MW wind-solar hybrid RTC power project in Rajasthan and Maharashtra on a captive basis, aiming to meet 70 per cent of Hindustan Zinc’s energy requirements. The project will be developed across high-resource locations in India and is expected to be fully operational by 2027.
The first flow of renewable power from Serentica’s 180 MW solar park has already been utilised in producing Asia’s first low-carbon zinc, EcoZen. With this expansion, the share of renewable energy in Hindustan Zinc’s total power consumption has increased to over 70 per cent.
