GUVNL awards 306 MW wind capacity at lower tariffs

Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL) has awarded 306 MW of wind power capacity to four developers, finalising a competitive tender process initiated in September 2025. The tariffs discovered in this auction are notably lower than those in the utility’s previous wind procurement round.
The allocation followed a three-month evaluation period for GUVNL’s 250 MW wind tender, which included a greenshoe option allowing for additional capacity. All projects must maintain a minimum capacity utilisation factor of 25 per cent. Powerica Limited secured the largest allocation of 106.4 MW at a tariff of Rs 3.44 per kWh. KP Group was awarded 50 MW at the same rate.
The remaining capacity was allocated at a slightly lower tariff of Rs 3.43 per kWh. Patel Infrastructure Limited won 100 MW, while ALFANAR Power (India) Private Limited secured 50 MW. Several other bidders, including Juniper Green Energy Private Limited and Jindal India Power Limited, did not meet the qualifying criteria.
The awarded tariffs mark a significant decrease from GUVNL’s preceding wind tender, where prices ranged between Rs 3.64 and Rs 3.66 per kWh. In that earlier 250 MW auction, KPI Green Energy Limited had secured 100 MW at Rs 3.64/kWh. Juniper Green Energy and JGRJ Four Renewable Private Limited (Jakson Green) won 50 MW each at Rs 3.65 and Rs 3.66/kWh, respectively. Inox Neo Energies Private Limited (Inox Clean Energy) was awarded 50 MW at Rs 3.66/kWh.
The project scope requires developers to establish the wind farms and the necessary transmission network to connect to either the interstate or intrastate grid. Developers must maintain a minimum annual capacity utilisation factor of 25%, with financial penalties for shortfalls and provisions for compensation during offtake constraints. The contract also includes penalties for commissioning delays, and all wind turbines must be sourced from India’s Approved List of Models and Manufacturers.
