Envision’s 5 MW wind turbine secures RLMM approval

Author: PPD Team Date: June 24, 2025

Envision Energy India’s wind turbine model EN-182/5.0 50 Hz TC has been approved under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy’s (MNRE) Revised List of Models and Manufacturers (RLMM). This approval is mandatory for supplying wind turbines in India.

The EN-182/5 MW turbine has a 181 metre rotor diameter, 105.56 metre hub height, and 89 metre blades mounted on a tubular steel tower. It is certified under IEC61400-22:2010 by DNV, with the certificate valid until February 16, 2026.

Envision has secured a 2,000 MW order book for this model from various independent power producers. Deliveries are set to begin in the third quarter of 2025. Blade manufacturing in Tiruchirappalli and nacelle and hub production in Pune are being readied for rollout.

The new turbine provides over 40 per cent more annual energy output than the EN-156/3.3 MW model, thanks to its larger swept area. It is designed to operate in ambient temperatures up to 50°C and includes fire and smoke detection systems.

Local content in the EN-182/5 MW model has been raised to 80 per cent from 60 per cent in the previous platform, aimed at strengthening India’s domestic wind manufacturing base.

Last week, Envision Energy partnered with SUN Terra to build a full-scale energy storage ecosystem across Southeast Asia, India, and Australia, enhancing supply chains and ESS deployment in the region.
