Enel North America, a unit of Italian energy company Enel, has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Meta for a 115MW portion of the Rockhaven wind farm in Oklahoma.
This marks the third collaboration between the two companies. The Rockhaven wind farm, located in Murray and Carter counties, has a total capacity of 140MW.
Stephen Pike, head of Enel Green Power North America, emphasized the growing demand for clean energy due to electrification, data centres, and artificial intelligence.
Enel has been supplying clean energy to Meta since 2018, starting with the Rattlesnake Creek wind farm in Nebraska, which supports Meta’s Sarpy Data Center. In 2023, the two companies announced another PPA from the Alta Farms wind farm in Illinois for Meta’s DeKalb Data Center.
Enel North America has signed over 100 PPAs, totalling more than 7.3 GW of contracted capacity. The company’s three-year strategy includes addressing growing corporate demand for renewable energy by leveraging its 11GW wind and solar portfolio and boosting demand response capacity in the US and Canada.
