Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi highlighted Diu as the first district in India to meet its full power demand through solar energy. Diu has installed 11.88 MW capacity (9 MW ground-mounted, 2.88 MW rooftop), covering its entire daytime electricity needs.
During his visit on May 30, 2025, the Minister reviewed solar infrastructure and the implementation of the PM-Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana. Officials presented details on generation capacity and household-level benefits. A field visit was also held at the 9 MW Fudam Solar Park, which has helped reduce T&D losses and enabled lower electricity tariffs.
The Minister stated that capital investments in Diu’s renewable infrastructure have already been recovered through solar power supply and sales. He called for faster implementation of the PM-Surya Ghar Yojana to ensure complete household coverage.

Author: PPD Team Date: October 6, 2025 The US Department of Energy (DOE) has terminated 321 financial awards linked to 223 projects, generating an estimated $7.56 billion in taxpayer savings. The decision follows a comprehensive review that found these projects did not meet national energy needs, lacked economic viability, and were unlikely to deliver a positive return on public funds. The awards were issued by the Offices of Clean Energy Demonstrations, Energy Efficiency and Renewable…
Author: PPD Team Date: July 8, 2025 The Central Electricity Authority (CEA) has issued revised guidelines for Automatic Weather Stations (AWS) in solar and wind power plants. The rules will improve the accuracy of real-time weather data, strengthen grid reliability, and support regulatory compliance for renewable energy developers. AWS units are to be installed within the boundaries of the project site. For solar plants, the AWS location should reflect the terrain and panel tilt. For…
Author: PPD Team Date: July 11, 2025 Solar power generated a record 22.1 per cent of the European Union’s electricity in June 2025, marking the first time it became the region’s largest single energy source. According to Ember, solar produced 45.4 TWh of electricity, surpassing nuclear (21.8 per cent) and wind (15.8 per cent). The shift was driven by a combination of expanded solar installations and favorable weather conditions. At least 13 EU countries set…
