Vadodara-based Diamond Power Infrastructure Limited received two cable supply orders from Gujarat state utilities on Monday, together worth over Rs 104 crore inclusive of tax, taking its total outstanding order book past Rs 3,500 crore.
The larger and more technically significant of the two is a 66 kilovolt (kV) extra high voltage (EHV) cable order from Gujarat Energy Transmission Corporation Limited (GETCO) for approximately 270 kilometres of cable, valued at Rs 60.53 crore including goods and services tax. The order is to be executed within four months from the date of purchase order. The company described it as one of the largest single EHV cable orders it has received, and said it has tested and supplied over 90 kilometres of 66 kV and 110 kV EHV cables in the preceding six months.
The second order comes from Uttar Gujarat Vij Company Limited (UGVCL), a distribution company (DISCOM), for 453 kilometres of cables valued at Rs 43.93 crore inclusive of tax. This order carries a seven-month execution timeline, with supply to be made in equal monthly lots as decided by the DISCOM, after a 45-day commencement period from receipt of the letter of acceptance.
The EHV segment requires specialised manufacturing infrastructure including catenary continuous vulcanization (CCV) lines, and involves long pre-qualification cycles with utilities. Diamond Power, which sells under the brand DICABS, holds National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) accreditation for its testing facilities and is rated to test cables up to 700 kV. The company said the GETCO order reinforces its position with state transmission utilities, which it regards as a strategically important customer segment.
