DDA allows DISCOMs to provide new electricity connections without reference to authority
The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has granted permission to DISCOMs to provide new electricity connections in four categories, including urbanised villages and colonies regularised by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), without requiring further approval from the DDA. This decision follows directions from Delhi LG VK Saxena, after representations from Delhi MPs, MLAs, and resident welfare associations.
New connections will be allowed in areas where the DDA or other government agencies have previously issued No Objection Certificates (NoCs) or approved development plans. This policy applies to urbanised villages, Lal Dora, extended Lal Dora, PM-UDAY colonies, land allotted to landless persons under Delhi’s 20-point programme, and areas with prior government approval.
DISCOMs can now proceed with new electricity connections in these areas by following their existing protocols, without further reference to the DDA. This change addresses the June 2023 order that restricted new connections in 105 urbanised villages under the Land Pooling Policy.
