Cygni Energy has inaugurated a fully automated battery energy storage system (BESS) gigafactory in Hyderabad with an annual production capacity of 4.8 GWh.
The facility, developed with an investment of over Rs 1 billion, is located at E-Mobility Valley in Maheshwaram’s electronics manufacturing cluster.
Spanning 160,000 sq. ft., the Phase-I plant will manufacture high-capacity battery packs for electric vehicles and grid-scale storage. Cygni has already secured a 1 GWh order pipeline from BESS developers and automotive clients.
The factory is equipped with advanced engineering and battery management system labs. It is also India’s first LEED-qualified battery production facility. The production line can assemble 105 kWh liquid-cooled base modules using 314Ah cells for global energy storage containers. Its manufacturing execution system enables real-time monitoring, quality control, and traceability.
Cygni plans to double its production capacity by 2027 under Phase II, with a proposed investment of Rs 1.50 billion. The facility is expected to generate over 1,000 direct and indirect jobs in the next two years.
The company is co-developing commercial and industrial energy storage solutions with XDLE, offering systems from 20 kWh to 1 MWh.
