The Central Government has initiated the development of 4,000 MW solar power projects in Rajasthan, with the foundation stone laid on December 17, 2024. The projects include:
Pugal Solar Project (2,450 MW):
- Phase-I and Phase-II (1,000 MW each): Located in Soorasar village, Pugal tehsil, Bikaner.
- Phase-III (450 MW): Located in Sardarpura village, Chhatargarh tehsil, Bikaner.
- Developed by Rajasthan Solarpark Development Company Limited (RSDCL), a subsidiary of Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation Limited (RRECL), under MNRE’s scheme for “Development of Solar Parks and Ultra Mega Solar Power Projects.” Total expected cost: Rs 100 billion across 4,780 hectares.
2,000 MW Solar Park Project:
- Located in Ramsar Chotta, Barala, and Bandarewala villages, Pugal tehsil, Bikaner.
- Phase-I (810 MW): Being developed by NLC India Limited.
- Phase-II (1,190 MW): To be developed by Coal India Limited (CIL) or its JV with Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (RRVUNL).
The Centre also launched rooftop solar PV power projects on government buildings across Rajasthan.
