Cadiz has partnered with RIC Energy to build a green hydrogen facility at Cadiz Ranch in California’s Mojave Desert, where Cadiz will supply land and water resources to support RIC Energy’s solar-powered hydrogen production. The facility aims to generate 100% green hydrogen, targeting distribution across Southern California for zero-emission vehicles and power generation.
The project plans to operate entirely off-grid, with photovoltaic (PV) solar installations covering up to 3,000 acres of Cadiz Ranch land. At full capacity, the facility is expected to produce up to 50,000 kg of hydrogen daily, providing sustainable energy for California’s zero-emission transportation and transitioning industries. It will include on-site electricity storage and hydrogen compression and liquefaction facilities for efficient rail and road transport.
With potential future pipeline connections to Los Angeles, the project will also allow Cadiz to use up to 500 acre-feet of water annually and power its water and groundwater banking operations through the facility’s green hydrogen and solar energy.
Author: PPD Team Date: 07/11/2024 The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has issued a call for proposals to establish Centers of Excellence (CoEs) under the National Green Hydrogen Mission’s (NGHM) Research and Development (R&D) programme, with a deadline of December 19, 2024. Selected entities will receive financial support covering up to 50 per cent of project costs, aimed at advancing green hydrogen production, storage, and utilisation. The CoEs will facilitate research, skill development,…
