Brookfield Asset Management and its affiliates (Brookfield) have announced the sale of a 1.6 GW portfolio of solar and wind assets in India to Gentari Renewables India in a two-phase transaction. The first phase, involving the sale of 1 GW of operational assets, has been completed.
Brookfield currently has an installed capacity of around 46 GW and a development pipeline of approximately 200 GW. Its assets span North and South America, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific region, covering hydroelectric, wind, utility-scale solar, and energy storage facilities. In India, Brookfield’s portfolio includes nearly 40 GW of wind and solar assets at various stages of development, including operational and under-construction projects.
In January 2025, Ørsted partnered with Brookfield and its listed affiliate Brookfield Renewables to sell a 12.45% minority stake in four of Ørsted’s offshore wind farms—Hornsea 1, Hornsea 2, Walney Extension, and Burbo Bank Extension—in the UK. These wind farms have a combined capacity of approximately 3.5 GW.
In the same month, the Competition Commission of India approved Gentari Renewables India’s acquisition of 21 special purpose vehicles (SPVs) and holding companies engaged in solar and wind power generation and sales.
