Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has received a Letter of Award (LoA) worth Rs 80 billion for the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) of the 2×660 MW Koradi Thermal Power Project.
The contract, awarded by Maharashtra State Power Generation Company Limited (MSPGCL) on February 7, 2025, covers the design, engineering, manufacturing, and commissioning of the Boiler, Turbine, and Generator (BTG) package.
The scope includes designing, manufacturing, testing, and supplying the main plant, including steam generator, steam turbine, and generator, along with auxiliaries such as flue gas desulphurisation (FGD) and selective catalyst reactors (SCR). It also covers civil and structural works, marine-cum-erection insurance, the supply of mandatory spares, and tools, and three years of operation and maintenance (O&M) spares.
Located in Koradi, Nagpur district, the supercritical coal-based power plant will be developed at an estimated Rs 106.25 billion. The Maharashtra Government will provide Rs 21.25 billion in equity, while Rs 85 billion is expected to be raised from financial institutions, including Rural Electrification Corporation Limited (REC) and Power Finance Corporation Limited (PFC).
