Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) issued a tender on April 23, 2025, for engaging a project management consultancy (PMC) firm for five thermal power projects. Bids have been invited in two packages, with a submission deadline of May 5, 2025.

Package I covers three sub-packages:

Package A includes the 800 MW Deen Bandhu Chhotu Ram Power Expansion Project in Yamunanagar, Haryana. Developed by Haryana Power Generation Corporation Limited (HPGCL), the Rs 69 billion project will expand the existing 2×300 MW plant commissioned in 2008.

Package B pertains to the Raghunathpur Thermal Power Project Phase II in West Bengal. It involves adding two 660 MW units at a cost of Rs 115.54 billion.

Package C covers the 2×660 MW Koradi Thermal Power Project in Nagpur, Maharashtra. Maharashtra State Power Generation Company Limited (MSPGCL) will implement the Rs 106.25 billion project. The state government will contribute Rs 21.25 billion in equity, while Rs 85 billion is expected from REC and PFC.

Package II includes two sub-packages:

Package D is for the 800 MW Unit 7 of the Ukai Super Critical Thermal Power Extension Project in Gujarat. The expansion will be built in the Ash Dyke Area of the existing Ukai station, operated by Gujarat State Electricity Corporation Limited (GSECL).

Package E is for the 1,320 MW Rajiv Gandhi (Korba West) Thermal Power Plant in Chhattisgarh. The supercritical coal project, consisting of two 660 MW units, will be developed by Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Company Limited (CSPGCL) at a cost of Rs 129.15 billion. Commissioning is targeted for 2029–30.
