Bajel Projects Limited has secured a contract from Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company Limited (MSETCL) for the establishment of a 400/220 kV Air Insulated Switchgear (AIS) substation at Saswad in Pune district, along with associated transmission lines. The order, valued at more than Rs 700 crore, including GST, is the largest single contract secured by the company in its power transmission business.

The contract will be executed through MSETCL’s special purpose vehicle, Saswad Transmission Limited.

The project involves complete turnkey engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) of a greenfield 2×500 MVA substation equipped with a 125 MVAr bus reactor at the 400 kV level.

The scope also includes bay additions at three existing substations and the construction of multiple 400 kV and 220 kV transmission lines. These will include Line-In Line-Out (LILO) configurations to integrate the Saswad substation with the wider Maharashtra transmission network.

The facility has been designed with provisions for future capacity expansion. The project is scheduled for completion within 23 months from the Notification of Award.

The contract falls under Bajel Projects’ “Ultra-Mega” category, which covers orders valued above Rs 400 crore.

Rajesh Ganesh, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Bajel Projects, stated that the award aligns with the company’s RAASTA 2030 strategy of pursuing large and technically complex projects and further strengthens its engagement with MSETCL.

Bajel Projects was previously the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) business of Bajaj Electricals Limited and operates as part of the Bajaj Group.
