Attero has signed a memorandum of understanding with the National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE), an autonomous body under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy. The partnership aims to address the growing issue of solar panel waste in India.

Under the agreement, NISE will provide sectoral insights and technical inputs to support Attero’s research and development in solar panel recycling. A pilot project will be launched to test recycling technologies developed by both organisations. NISE will supply end-of-life solar panels for the trial.

The collaboration also includes plans to explore a dedicated test and research facility at the NISE campus. This centre will focus on recycling technologies for both lithium-ion batteries and solar panels.

The partnership will produce joint technical reports and policy recommendations. These will guide the creation of recycling standards for solar waste management in India and globally.

Attero specialises in resource recovery, particularly in lithium-ion battery and e-waste recycling. The company manages the entire recycling chain in-house, with a focus on high-purity metal recovery, resource efficiency, and sustainability. Their processes meet international standards and are based on deep-tech innovation.
