Adani Power Limited has entered into a 25-year Power Supply Agreement (PSA) with Bihar State Power Generation Company Limited (BSPGCL) for 2,400 megawatts (MW) of electricity from a proposed ultra-supercritical thermal power plant in Bhagalpur district.
The PSA was signed on September 12, 2025, following the Letter of Award issued to the company in August. The project will be developed at Pirpainti, Bhagalpur, under the Design, Build, Finance, Own and Operate (DBFOO) model. Fuel supply will be sourced from a coal linkage allocated under the Government of India’s SHAKTI policy.
Adani Power stated that the 2,400 MW facility will be constructed as three units of 800 MW each, with an estimated investment of about USD 3 billion. The company secured the project by offering a supply rate of Rs 6.075 per kilowatt-hour (kWh).
According to the company, construction is expected to take 60 months. Employment generation during the project’s development is projected at 10,000 to 12,000 jobs, with around 3,000 positions during operations.
Adani Power currently operates 18,110 MW of thermal capacity across multiple states, along with a 40 MW solar installation in Gujarat.
