Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL) has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) for 1,250 MW of energy storage capacity.

The supply will come from the Panaura pumped storage project (PSP), located at Soman village in Robertsganj tehsil, Sonbhadra district. The PPA was signed through AGEL’s subsidiary, Adani Hydro Energy Five Limited.

The Panaura PSP is designed as an off-stream closed-loop system and was awarded to AGEL in February 2025. It comes with a commitment period of 40 years. Completion is targeted for 2031.

This is part of AGEL’s broader plan to develop over 5,000 MW of pumped hydro storage by 2030. Other projects under development include 500 MW at Chitravathi (Andhra Pradesh), 1,500 MW at Tarali (Maharashtra), and 1,800 MW at Gandikota (Andhra Pradesh).
