Adani Energy Solutions Limited (AESL) announced on February 5, 2026, that it has delivered one crore smart electricity meters across India. The company said it is the first entity in the country, and possibly worldwide, to reach this scale. AESL also stated that its installation pace is the highest in the industry, with the next crore of meters planned for delivery in the coming financial year.
AESL operates as an Advanced Metering Infrastructure Service Provider (AMISP) and has a mandate to install around 2.5 crore smart meters across five Indian states. The company reported an average installation rate of about 25,000 meters per day, enabling it to achieve the one-crore milestone ahead of its internal target of March 31, 2026.
According to AESL, the speed of execution has been supported by an integrated operating model. This includes coordination with group companies for metering, digital systems, and data hosting, along with partnerships with tier-I meter manufacturers. The company also cited technician training programs run through its corporate social responsibility arm as a contributor to scaling up installations.
Commenting on the milestone, AESL Chief Executive Officer Kandarp Patel said the installed base is expected to support consumers, improve grid reliability, and strengthen energy management. The rollout aligns with the Government of India’s Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS), which targets the replacement of 25 crore conventional meters with smart meters to modernize power distribution and reduce losses.
AESL began its smart metering programme in 2024 and completed the one-crore installation milestone in about 24 months. The company said it currently has an order book of more than 24.6 million meters and operates as India’s largest private power transmission company, with a presence across 16 states.
