Juniper Green signs PPA with SJVN for 50 MW FDRE project
Juniper Green Energy Limited, through its subsidiary Juniper Nirjara Energy Private Limited, has signed a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with SJVN Limited for a 50 MW Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) project under the SJVN FDRE-2 scheme. The PPA was signed on August 26, 2026, at a tariff of Rs 4.25 per unit.
The project was awarded through Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding, with the Letter of Award received on February 3, 2025. It will combine solar generation with Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) capacity to meet the contracted supply obligations.
Supply obligations
Under the PPA, Juniper Nirjara Energy is required to provide four hours of peak-hour supply with 90% availability on a monthly basis. The project must also meet the minimum annual Capacity Utilisation Factor (CUF) specified under the bid requirements.
The scheduled commercial operations date (SCOD) is within 24 months from the effective date of signing the PPA. The agreement is expected to generate annual revenue of approximately Rs 80 crore.
Portfolio expansion
Following the addition of the project, Juniper Green Energy’s renewable energy portfolio stands at 11,216 MWp, supported by 8,989 MWh of BESS capacity. The company currently has approximately 2.57 GWp of operational renewable energy capacity and 500 MWh of operational BESS capacity.
Commenting on the development, Ankush Malik, Whole Time Director & CEO of Juniper Green Energy Limited, said the PPA strengthens the company’s partnership with SJVN and marks another step in its strategy to build a scaled portfolio of FDRE projects. He noted that as India’s power system evolves, the ability to deliver renewable energy during peak demand hours will become increasingly important, and the company’s integrated capabilities across solar generation and battery storage enable it to provide solutions that combine renewable energy benefits with greater reliability and dispatchability.
