JSW Energy signs MOU with China’s RJE Tech for energy storage systems
JSW Energy has signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Rongjie Energy Technology Co., Ltd. (RJE Tech) covering the supply of energy storage systems (ESS) with capacities of 5 MWh and 6.26 MWh. The systems will use RJE Tech’s 314Ah and newly mass-produced 588Ah lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cells.
The agreement adds to RJE Tech’s recent expansion of partnerships in India’s battery energy storage market. The company said the agreement with JSW Energy reflects confidence in its technology, quality and delivery capabilities and will support JSW Energy’s energy transition plans.
A few days earlier, Lineage Power Private Limited, a material subsidiary of Pace Digitek, signed a framework cooperation agreement with RJE Tech for the supply of 4 GWh of LFP battery cells in 2027.
RJE Tech is a Chinese lithium-ion battery manufacturer. The company’s planned facilities cover 26.67 hectares, with a construction area of 530,000 sq. m. Its planned annual production capacity comprises 35 GWh of battery cells and 20 GWh of modules and packs.
The JSW Energy agreement covers 5 MWh and 6.26 MWh ESS systems based on 314Ah and 588Ah LFP cells. The partnership comes as battery storage becomes increasingly important for integrating renewable generation and supplying electricity during periods of peak demand.
