Voith Hydro wins contract for Nepal’s 200 MW Lapchi Khola hydropower project
Voith Hydro Private Limited has secured the hydropower equipment contract for the 200 MW Lapchi Khola Hydropower Project (HPP) in Nepal, expanding its presence in the country’s hydropower sector.
The project is being developed by Nasa Hydropower Limited, part of the MV Dugar Group. Once commissioned, Lapchi Khola HPP will be Nepal’s largest vertical Pelton hydropower plant developed by a private investor, adding 200 MW of renewable energy capacity to the country’s power system.
Project portfolio
The latest order marks Voith Hydro’s ninth hydropower project in Nepal. With this contract, the company’s cumulative installed and contracted hydropower portfolio in the country now exceeds 600 MW.
The award strengthens Voith Hydro’s position in Nepal’s hydropower market as the country continues to expand renewable energy capacity through private sector investment.
According to the company, the project reflects continued customer confidence in its hydropower technology, quality standards and project execution capabilities.
Renewable capacity
The Lapchi Khola project is expected to contribute to Nepal’s clean energy generation capacity and support the country’s long-term renewable energy objectives.
Voith Hydro stated that the contract was secured through collaboration with its customer, project partners and internal teams. The company added that it will focus on delivering the project with emphasis on innovation, safety and execution.
