Shyam Sel and Power commissions 8.9 MWp solar project in West Bengal
Shyam Sel and Power Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Shyam Metals and Energy Limited, has commissioned an 8.90 MWp captive solar power project at its manufacturing plant in Jamuria, West Bengal.
The project has been developed through a combination of Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) and Operating Expenditure (OPEX) models. Of the total capacity, 4.60 MWp has been implemented under the CAPEX model, while 4.30 MWp has been developed under the OPEX model.
The captive solar capacity is intended to reduce operational power costs and increase the use of renewable energy in the company’s manufacturing operations.
Shyam Metals and Energy Chairman & Managing Director Brij Bhushan Agarwal said the commissioning reflects the company’s focus on sustainable manufacturing and its clean energy transition. He said the blended CAPEX and OPEX strategy balances capital efficiency with long-term cost optimisation while reducing carbon emissions.
The Jamuria project expands Shyam Metals’ renewable energy portfolio as the group continues to transition towards greener energy sources across its operational footprint.
