Siemens Energy has signed an agreement to acquire Camlin Group, a Northern Ireland-based company specialising in grid monitoring, analytics, and asset digitalisation technologies.

The acquisition is intended to expand Siemens Energy’s digital grid portfolio amid rising global investment in electricity networks. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed. The deal remains subject to regulatory approvals and is expected to close before the end of 2026.

Camlin Group will become a wholly owned subsidiary of Siemens Energy while continuing to operate independently.

Grid digitalisation focus

Siemens Energy stated that the acquisition will strengthen its capabilities in sensor-based monitoring, data analytics, and software-enabled grid intelligence.

The company noted that power grids globally are facing increasing pressure from ageing infrastructure, rising electrification, higher load volatility, and rapid renewable energy integration. Demand for technologies that enable real-time grid monitoring, predictive maintenance, and faster fault detection is also increasing.

Camlin operations

Camlin Group is headquartered in Lisburn, Northern Ireland, and employs around 650 people. The company operates across the United Kingdom, Europe, North America, Australia, and Asia, with annual revenue of over £90 million.

Founded in 2010 by a group of engineers in Northern Ireland, Camlin Group provides engineering solutions for energy and rail systems.

Management statements

Tim Holt, Member of the Executive Board of Siemens Energy, said grid expansion and digitalisation are becoming increasingly important for energy security, economic growth, and the energy transition.

Peter Cunningham, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Camlin Group, said the partnership aligns with the company’s long-term technology and business strategy. He added that existing operations and leadership structures would continue following the acquisition.
