Suzlon appoints Ashok Ramachandran as India Business President
Suzlon Energy Limited has appointed Mr. Ashok Ramachandran as President – India Business and Senior Managerial Personnel (SMP), effective June 4, 2026.
In a stock exchange filing, the company said Ramachandran will report to the Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The appointment comes as Suzlon advances its strategy to position itself as a wind-first, full-stack renewable energy company.
Ramachandran has more than 20 years of leadership experience across the energy, industrial products, and vertical mobility sectors in India, Southeast Asia, and Australia. The company said he has led large-scale transformation and growth initiatives in complex and fast-growing industries.
Before joining Suzlon, Ramachandran served as Chief Operating Officer and board member at JSW, where he contributed to the company’s long-term growth strategy. According to Suzlon, JSW expanded its capacity from nearly 5 GW to 30 GW in around three years during his tenure.
Earlier, Ramachandran spent most of his career with the Schindler Group. As CEO & President – Schindler India & South Asia, he oversaw manufacturing, operations, and research and development (R&D) activities across the company’s key markets. Suzlon stated that revenues increased three-fold from Rs 1,000 crore to Rs 3,000 crore under his leadership.
Girish Tanti, Vice Chairman of Suzlon Group, said India’s wind energy sector has entered a phase of accelerated growth, citing record installations of 6.5 GW last year. He added that Ramachandran’s experience in operational scaling and execution-led transformation would support Suzlon’s next phase of growth.
Ajay Kapur, CEO of Suzlon Group, said the company aims not only to lead the renewable energy sector but also to support its expansion. He said Ramachandran’s operational and execution expertise would help strengthen Suzlon’s position in the industry.
Commenting on his appointment, Ramachandran said Suzlon has played a significant role in India’s renewable energy development and that he aims to strengthen the company’s market position through operational excellence, customer focus, and scalable growth strategies.
Suzlon also confirmed that Ramachandran is not related to any of the directors of Suzlon Energy Limited.
