Orient Green Power posts record FY26 profit on wind, solar growth
Orient Green Power Company reported its highest-ever annual net profit for FY26, supported by strong wind generation, lower financing costs, the commissioning of its first solar project, and a one-time refund of excess interest charges.
On a consolidated basis, total income increased 13% year-on-year (YoY) to Rs 315.57 crore in FY26 from Rs 278.89 crore in FY25. Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation (EBITDA) rose 10% to Rs 205.45 crore, compared to Rs 187.31 crore in the previous fiscal. Net profit surged 70% YoY to a record Rs 71.57 crore, against Rs 42.01 crore in FY25.
Despite the strong annual performance, the company reported weaker results in the fourth quarter due to seasonal factors. Consolidated total income for Q4 FY26 stood at Rs 46.62 crore, down 2% from Rs 47.63 crore in the corresponding quarter last year. Quarterly EBITDA declined 19% to Rs 18.15 crore. The company posted a net loss of Rs 16.56 crore in Q4 FY26, compared to a loss of Rs 15.09 crore in Q4 FY25.
During the fiscal year, Orient Green Power commissioned its first solar power project, a 7 MW plant in Tamil Nadu, in December 2025. The company also signed contracts to add another 17.6 MW of solar capacity.
In the wind segment, the company expanded capacity by 9.9 MW through the deployment of 3.3 MW turbines. It also initiated the repowering of 7.8 MW of old wind turbines under Tamil Nadu’s repowering policy, marking its first such project under the framework.
Interest costs during FY26 declined around 21% to Rs 57.18 crore from Rs 71.99 crore in the previous year. The reduction was supported by a credit rating upgrade and a 45 basis point cut in borrowing costs at a key subsidiary. Profitability also benefited from a one-time refund of nearly Rs 16 crore related to excess interest charged in earlier years.
Commenting on the performance, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) T. Shivaraman said FY26 was a breakthrough year for the company, driven by multiple operational milestones and record profitability despite weaker wind patterns in the final quarter.
Promoted by SVL Limited, OGPL currently operates around 381.7 MW of wind power capacity across Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, and Karnataka. The company also operates a 10.5 MW wind farm in Croatia and the recently commissioned 7 MW solar plant in Tamil Nadu.
