EIM launches 3 MW EV battery swapping station at Nhava Sheva port

Energy in Motion Limited (EIM), an associate of Ravindra Energy Limited, has commenced commercial operations at India’s largest battery swapping and charging station for heavy vehicles. The facility is located at the Nhava Sheva Freeport Container Terminal (NSFT) within Jawaharlal Nehru Port in Maharashtra.

The automated, ground-based installation has an installed power capacity of 3 MW and is designed to support the increasing demand for zero-emission logistics. The station can handle upwards of 160 heavy electric vehicles per day, enabling continuous operations and reducing downtime for fleet operators. More than 130 EIM-Foton electric vehicles currently operating at the port have begun using the facility.

The development adds to India’s clean logistics infrastructure and reflects EIM’s focus on EV infrastructure deployment. Nhava Sheva Freeport Container Terminal (NSFT) is a joint venture between CMA Terminal Holdings of France and the J M Baxi group.

Narendra Murkumbi, Managing Director of Energy in Motion Limited, said the company is working with NSFT to build an integrated EV ecosystem at the terminal and aims to support the electrification of the entire vehicle fleet by the end of FY 2026-27.
