KP Energy secures inter-state trading licence from CERC

Author: PPD Team Date: April 24, 2026

KP Energy Limited has received an Inter-State Electricity Trading Licence (Category V) from the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC), enabling it to participate in power trading across India.

The licence allows the renewable energy company to undertake inter-state electricity trading, expanding its ability to match power supply with demand across regions. This approval broadens its market access beyond location-specific offtake arrangements and supports more flexible sales strategies.

With this development, KP Energy can engage with utilities and commercial and industrial consumers across multiple states, optimise power sales based on market-linked pricing, and participate in exchange-based and short-term markets alongside its existing long-term contracts.

Dr. Faruk G. Patel, Founding Promoter and Managing Director of KP Energy Limited, said the licence strengthens the company’s flexibility in power sales and supports its strategy to build an integrated renewable energy platform.
