NavPrakriti Green Energies Private Limited will invest over Rs 1 billion to set up a greenfield critical minerals refining facility in Odisha, with operations expected by the financial year 2028-29.
The facility will process up to 5,000 tonnes per annum (TPA) of end-of-life batteries. It is designed to recover high-purity lithium, cobalt, nickel, and other rare earth minerals from spent batteries, supporting domestic material supply for clean energy technologies.
The company is developing a research and development ecosystem through collaborations with national and international institutions. It has also been deemed eligible under the National Critical Mineral Mission for extracting cobalt, nickel, and lithium, aligning with efforts to strengthen domestic supply chains and the recycling ecosystem.
Established in 2024, NavPrakriti focuses on lithium-ion battery recycling and refurbishment. Its proprietary “Zero Waste-Zero Emission” technology enables recovery of critical materials with purity levels exceeding 99.5%. These materials are reused across battery cell manufacturing, renewable energy storage, and pharmaceutical applications.
The company currently has a battery recycling capacity of 12,000 TPA and plans to expand this to 24,000 TPA by 2027. It aims to reduce dependence on imported raw materials while addressing environmental concerns linked to conventional mining.
