Credence Solar Panels Pvt. Ltd. has started construction of a 2 GW solar cell manufacturing facility in Rajkot, Gujarat. The Rajkot facility will produce G12 and G12R solar cells and is scheduled for commissioning in the fourth quarter of 2026. Once operational, the plant is expected to improve vertical integration by enabling tighter control over supply chains, product quality, and technology deployment.

The investment aligns with India’s efforts to expand domestic solar manufacturing capacity. A key policy instrument is the Approved List of Cell Manufacturers (ALCM), which aims to promote local production and reduce reliance on imports. The ALCM continues to influence procurement decisions across the renewable energy sector.

The facility will support the manufacturing of higher-wattage modules using larger cell formats. G12 and G12R cells are gaining wider adoption due to their higher efficiency and greater power output per module. Credence Solar Panels Pvt. Ltd. has already introduced G12-based PV modules with capacities up to 730 watts, positioning it among early adopters of large-format module technology in India.

Additional cell manufacturing capacity is expected to support the strengthening of India’s solar supply chain and contribute to broader targets for scaling domestic renewable energy production.
