Hygge Energy has partnered with Atria Renewable to expand peer-to-peer (P2P) rooftop solar trading in Bengaluru. The collaboration aims to scale adoption of decentralised solar trading through Hygge’s blockchain and artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled energy trading platform while operating within the regulatory framework of the Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission (KERC).

Under the arrangement, Atria Renewable will serve as a preferred installation partner on Hygge’s platform. The two companies will share consumer data and technical inputs to streamline rooftop solar adoption. They also plan to develop a jointly branded mobile application that will allow users to manage installations, trade surplus electricity and access financing through a single interface.

Hygge’s platform supports blockchain-based contract execution and payment settlement aligned with the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) framework. The system also integrates financing options for rooftop solar installations.

The partnership also introduces an asset tokenisation approach for distributed solar. Hygge’s P2P model in Karnataka is designed to enable financing of rooftop solar systems and battery storage through CBDC-based asset tokenisation. The structure is intended to provide an additional funding channel for small-scale solar projects while enabling installation partners such as Atria Renewable to expand their customer base.

Atria Renewable is part of the Atria Group, established in 1960 and recognised as India’s first private hydropower producer. The group has since expanded into solar energy. Chairman C. S. Sunder Raju said Hygge’s work on carbon emission tracking and carbon credit generation could create opportunities beyond rooftop installations, including participation in emerging carbon markets.
