Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited (Tata Power-DDL) has commissioned a 630 kVA Unitised Substation (USS) designed for deployment in space-constrained areas ahead of peak summer demand.
The substation is expected to serve about 500 consumers and enhance network capacity for load management during high-demand summer months. Its compact design enables installation in locations where conventional substations cannot be accommodated.
The project forms part of ongoing network strengthening measures by Tata Power-DDL to maintain supply reliability. The utility serves consumers across North and Northwest Delhi, where electricity demand typically rises sharply during summer.
The USS integrates multiple distribution components within a single enclosure, allowing infrastructure deployment in dense urban environments. Company officials said the installation required coordination across technical teams due to site constraints.
The commissioning comes ahead of the seasonal demand increase driven by higher cooling loads from residential and commercial consumers. Distribution utilities across the National Capital Region undertake similar upgrades to prepare for summer peak demand.
