Suzlon Energy has introduced a new leadership structure aligned with its “Suzlon 2.0” strategy, appointing Ajay Kapur as Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and elevating J.P. Chalasani to the newly created Group Executive Council (GEC). The board approved the changes at its meeting on February 24, 2026.
The company has set up the GEC as a strategic body to guide medium- and long-term growth. It has also created an Executive Management Council led by the Group CEO to drive business transformation and growth. The restructuring is aimed at strengthening succession planning, leadership continuity, and strategic execution.
Ajay Kapur has been appointed Group CEO and designated as a Key Managerial Personnel (KMP) effective February 24, 2026. He brings more than 36 years of experience across cement, construction, power, and heavy metals sectors. Kapur holds an economics degree and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from K.J. Somaiya Institute of Management and is an alumnus of The Wharton School. He previously served as Managing Director (MD) of Ambuja Cements Limited, an Adani Group company, and will report to Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) Vinod Tanti.
J.P. Chalasani has been elevated to the GEC while continuing as a KMP. He will work with the CMD and Executive Vice Chairman (EVC) on strategic initiatives, mentor senior leadership, manage strategic partnerships, and support new business incubation.
The board also appointed Girish Vanvari as an Additional Director in the capacity of Independent Director for a five-year term ending February 23, 2031. Vanvari is a Chartered Accountant (CA) with more than three decades of experience across taxation, corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), valuations, restructuring, and corporate governance. His appointment will be placed before shareholders through a postal ballot.
The leadership changes come as Suzlon expands from a wind solutions provider toward a broader renewable energy platform. Under the Suzlon 2.0 strategy, the company plans to diversify across wind, solar, battery energy storage systems (BESS), emerging technologies, and integrated business models.
Girish Tanti, Executive Vice Chairman, said the structure supports focus on strategy and scale-up execution. J.P. Chalasani stated that the GEC will define enterprise priorities, shape portfolio strategy, and allocate capital across businesses. Ajay Kapur said he will focus on sustainable growth, operational performance, and long-term value creation.
