NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL) announced on 2 February 2026 that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Assago Industries Private Limited to supply green ammonia, carbon dioxide, renewable power, and utilities for green urea production, according to a company statement.
NGEL, a subsidiary of NTPC Limited, said the MoU covers inputs required to produce 1,000 tonnes per day of green urea.
The agreement was signed at NTPC Bhawan in New Delhi. The proposed urea plant is being explored for development within NGEL’s Green Hydrogen Hub at Pudimadaka near Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh, the company said.
Under the MoU, NGEL would supply green ammonia and renewable energy power to support industrial scale production of green urea, a fertiliser produced using renewable energy and low carbon inputs instead of fossil fuels.
The partnership aims to support the development of green fertiliser capacity through integrated supply of clean energy and feedstock, the company said.
