Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) has awarded Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) a major contract worth Rs 3,618 million for supplying high-capacity transformers. The contract forms part of a bulk procurement package aimed at strengthening national transmission infrastructure.
The state-owned transmission utility finalised the award for the “765 kilovolt (kV) Transformer Package TTR-15/BULK.” The scope covers the supply of 17 units of 765/400 kV, 500 Mega Volt-Ampere (MVA) single-phase transformers. The contract was awarded on 23 December 2025.
BHEL secured the order as the lowest bidder after a competitive process involving three participants. The procurement has been executed under a bulk package strategy, which is expected to support standardisation and cost efficiency across critical grid assets. The award notice did not specify a completion timeline.
