Vestas has won a 390 MW turbine order for the Shinan-Ui offshore wind project in South Korea, marking its first offshore wind contract in the country. The project includes a long-term service deal and supports South Korea’s expanding offshore wind pipeline.
The order comes from Shinan-Ui Offshore Wind, a consortium of Hanwha Ocean, SK Eternix, Korea Midland Power Co., Ltd. (KOMIPO), Future Energy Fund and Hyundai Engineering & Construction. The project is located in Jeollanam Province.
Vestas will supply 26 V236-15.0 MW turbines and provide a 20-year Active Output Management (AOM) service agreement. Turbine delivery is planned for 2027, with commercial operations targeted for 2028.
Company officials said the development introduces Vestas’s flagship offshore turbine to South Korea. Hanwha Ocean noted the project as the country’s first utility-scale offshore wind development aligned fully with global installation and grid standards.
The V236-15.0 MW turbine, certified in 2023, is central to Vestas’s offshore strategy. The company has secured more than 9 GW of firm global orders for the model, and the Shinan-Ui project strengthens its position in the Asia Pacific offshore wind market.
