SJVN Green achieves COD for 1,000 MW Bikaner solar project

SJVN Limited has informed the exchanges that its wholly owned subsidiary, SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL), has achieved the Commercial Operation Date (COD) for the 1,000 MW Bikaner Solar Power Project in Rajasthan. The project is located on 5,000 acres of purchased land in the Banderwala area of the Bikaner district.

According to the disclosure, the project is expected to generate 2,454.55 million units of electricity in the first year of operation. Over an estimated 25-year operating period, the cumulative generation is projected at about 56,838 million units. Power from the project will be supplied at a maximum tariff of Rs 2.57 per unit.

The project has been developed at Rs 5,492 crore. It has been implemented under the Domestic Content Requirement (DCR) mode using Indian manufactured solar photovoltaic cells and modules. SJVN Limited has estimated an annual reduction of around 27,85,077 tonnes of carbon emissions from the project.

The company stated that the commissioning marks an important milestone and supports the Government of India’s target of achieving 500 gigawatt (GW) of renewable energy capacity by 2030. 

Earlier this month, SJVN Limited had also reported the commercial operation of a 100.56 MW segment of its solar capacity in Rajasthan.
