Vikram Solar commissions 5 GW Vallam module plant in Tamil Nadu

Vikram Solar has commissioned its Vallam module manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu, adding 5 GW of new capacity. With this expansion, the company’s total module manufacturing capacity has reached 9.5 GW.

The Vallam plant spans 27,000 sq m and is built on TOPCon technology with provisions for HJT upgrades. It supports M10, G12 and G12R formats. The facility uses high levels of automation, including robotics, advanced material handling, integrated quality checks and automated packaging. The company said these systems improve precision, strengthen reliability and increase production speed.

Vikram Solar noted that the new plant is designed to deliver consistent module quality and reduce failure rates. Higher precision is expected to support better performance and lower degradation over the life of the modules. The company said customers will benefit from predictable supply and shorter lead times. All modules meet Tier 1 and international quality standards.

The commissioning adds to Vikram Solar’s existing presence in Tamil Nadu, including its facility in Oragadam and the planned Gangaikondan site. The company said these locations form part of its long-term plan to anchor advanced solar manufacturing in the state.

Chairman and Managing Director Gyanesh Chaudhary said the completion of the Vallam project marks an important step for the company as it expands its technology and manufacturing platforms. He said the facility reflects the company’s focus on scale, speed and innovation as it enters its third decade in the sector.

Modules from Vallam will serve customers across India, including utility scale developers, commercial and industrial users and distributed generation projects. The company also aims to achieve 40 to 50 per cent gender diversity in the plant’s baseline workforce.
