The Competition Commission of India has approved the plan by Jindal Jhajjar Power Limited to acquire 100 per cent shareholding in Jhajjar Power Limited.
The transaction involves the full purchase of Jhajjar Power Limited by Jindal Jhajjar Power Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Jindal Power Limited. Jindal Power Limited operates in the power sector with a focus on thermal generation.
Jhajjar Power Limited operates a supercritical coal plant in the Jhajjar district of Haryana. The 1,320 MW plant began operations in mid-2012. It supplies 90 per cent of its power to Haryana and the balance to Tata Power Trading Company Limited.
