Uttar Pradesh has released the Energy and Renewable Vision 2047, which sets a target to meet 40 to 50 percent of its energy needs from renewable sources by 2047. The plan aims to deliver clean, reliable, and affordable power.
The vision presents a wide plan to decarbonize the state’s power sector. It calls for new solar parks, floating solar projects, hybrid wind-solar systems, and bioenergy units. It also gives importance to expanding EV charging systems and scaling up advanced energy storage. The document places further focus on decentralized power supply, microgrids, and the development of green hydrogen and sustainable aviation fuels.
Additional Chief Secretary Energy Narendra Bhushan said the state needs to prepare for fast rising demand and maintain round the clock supply. He pointed to new possibilities in floating solar, nuclear power, and green ammonia. UPPCL Chairman Ashish Goel said long term planning is complex and called for policies that can adjust to changing conditions.
The plan is being shaped through wide public and stakeholder feedback. Principal Secretary Planning Alok Kumar said more than one crore suggestions received on the Smart ACS portal are being reviewed with the help of artificial intelligence to guide sector priorities. NITI Aayog Advisor Manoj Upadhyay said the state needs practical steps that align with national goals.
