CEA pushes national standard for DT design and maintenance
The Central Electricity Authority held a meeting to push national standardisation of distribution transformer design and maintenance. Officials noted that failure rates average about 10 per cent, which equals nearly 1.3 million failures each year. Performance varies sharply across states, with some northern utilities above 20 per cent while Tata Power DDL and CESC operate below 0.5 per cent. IEEMA said moisture ingress accounts for close to 90 per cent of failures. The group agreed on steps such as improved sealing systems, base-level neutral connection points, and tin-plated winding joints, and proposed training programmes and updates to IS 1180.

MNRE posts Moldova’s 105 MW wind tender
Energocom launched a wind tender of about 105 MW and MNRE posted the notice on its site. The specifications require onshore turbines with a minimum rating of 3 MW that meet IEC Class II or Class III. Turbines need a rotor diameter of at least 100 metres and a hub height of 80 metres or more, with 120 to 140 metres suggested, matching global models such as the Vestas V150 and Siemens Gamesa SG 155. Developers must install a full SCADA system, meet Moldova Grid Code rules and fund the grid connection. The tender follows a competitive feed in premium with a ceiling of about 1.50 MDL per kWh and a fifteen year PPA.
