Adani unit takes charge of Rajasthan Part I HVDC project
AESL Projects Limited has taken over all responsibilities for the Rajasthan Part I Power Transmission Limited HVDC project through a novation agreement signed on November 14, 2025. The move transfers all rights and duties for the link that will move renewable energy from Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh to the Adani Energy Solutions subsidiary. The project covers the design and execution of an HVDC link connected to Bhadla III and Fatehpur. BHEL and Hitachi Energy India had received the Letter of Intent on February 9, 2025 and signed Supply and Services Contracts on April 3, 2025. The companies said that scope and timelines remain unchanged and APL will now handle all past and future responsibilities.
Assam picks Adani for its largest private energy investment
Adani Power Limited and Adani Green Energy have secured Letters of Award from the Assam Government for energy projects worth about Rs 63000 crore. The package includes a 3200 MW ultra supercritical thermal plant and two pumped storage plants totalling 2700 MW, the largest private investment seen in the northeast. Adani Power will invest about Rs 48000 crore in the thermal plant, which it won at a tariff of Rs 6.30 per kWh under a Design Build Finance Own and Operate model. Coal supply will come through the SHAKTI Policy and the plant will be commissioned in phases from December 2030 to December 2032. Adani Green Energy plans to invest about Rs 15000 crore in two pumped storage plants and will supply 500 MW of storage from these units.
Waaree adds 3.6 GW solar module capacity in Gujarat
Waaree Energies Limited has expanded its manufacturing capacity with two solar module plants in Gujarat totalling 3.6 GW a year. The company opened a 2.1 GW unit at Degam in Navsari on November 14, 2025 with two new lines of 1050 MW each. Sangam Solar One Private Limited commissioned a 1.5 GW facility in Samakhiali Kutch on November 15, 2025 with two lines of 750 MW each. The expansion boosts Waaree’s annual module output and supports rising domestic demand. The company said the two day commissioning strengthens its position in the solar manufacturing sector.
TARIL removed from World Bank debarment list
Transformers and Rectifiers India Limited has said it is no longer on the World Bank list of debarred entities. The update follows a case linked to a USD 24.74 million order for 70 transformers for the Nigeria Electricity Transmission Project, where three units were damaged in transport and later replaced. The company said the matter relates to Sanctions Case No. 788 and that the World Bank has allowed time until January 12, 2026 to file a detailed response. TARIL also released its Q2 FY26 results, reporting revenue of Rs 460.03 crores, EBITDA of Rs 65.44 crores and PAT of Rs 37.45 crores. The company holds an order book of Rs 5472 crores, with Q2 orders worth Rs 592 crores and inquiries above Rs 18700 crores.
SJVN commissions Unit 1 of 1320 MW Buxar thermal project
SJVN has placed Unit 1 of the 1320 MW Buxar Thermal Power Project into commercial operation through SJVN Thermal Private Limited. The 660 MW unit began commercial service on November 17, 2025 under SEBI Listing Regulations. The plant is located at Chausa in Buxar district and will provide most of its output to Bihar under a long term PPA. The project uses supercritical technology and is expected to generate 9828.72 million units a year. SJVN said the new capacity will help ease peak shortages in the state.
New biomass co-firing policy for all coal plants from 2025
The Ministry of Power has cleared a policy that requires every coal based thermal power plant to co-fire biomass pellets from FY26. The rules allow the use of torrefied charcoal made from municipal solid waste. Plants in the NCR must co-fire 5 per cent biomass pellets and add 2 per cent biomass or MSW charcoal each year, while plants outside the NCR must meet a 5 per cent blend using either fuel. The policy provides a cost recovery route through ECR for Section 62 projects and through Change in Law provisions for Section 63 projects. A CEA-led committee will handle exemption requests and co-fired power will count toward RCO targets.
BASF India signs agreement for hybrid captive renewable project in Gujarat
BASF India Limited has signed a share purchase agreement with Clean Max Enviro Energy Solutions to source renewable power from a hybrid solar and wind project in Jamnagar. The 12.21 MW project will supply power to BASF facilities in Dahej and Panoli under the group captive model. The plant will have 6.6 MVA of wind capacity and 5.61 MWp of solar capacity and is expected to begin operations in 2026. BASF India said the arrangement supports its longer term sustainability plans. The company recently reported weaker financial results for the September quarter.
ACS Energy secures pre-seed funding to expand EV charging network
ACS Energy has raised Rs 11 million in a pre-seed round led by Infection Point Ventures. The company plans to deploy more than 5000 UPI-enabled EV chargers across Maharashtra and Gujarat using its smart AC chargers and ACS pay platforms. The funds will also support energy management systems for high rise buildings. ACS Energy works in PCB design, IoT integration and firmware development and provides customised solutions across green energy and industrial automation. The company was founded in 2021.
Andhra Pradesh draws investments from Reliance, Brookfield, ReNew in energy
Andhra Pradesh signed 613 MoUs worth Rs 13.25 lakh crore during the 30th CII Partnership Summit 2025 in Visakhapatnam. The summit drew more than 4975 industrialists, including 640 international delegates, and is expected to create 16.31 lakh jobs. Brookfield announced investments of about USD 12 billion across green energy, including a 3 GW clean energy-powered data centre and other projects. ReNew Energy Global Plc announced new commitments of Rs 60000 crore, including a 6 GW PV ingot wafer plant, a 2 GW pumped hydro project, a 300 kilotonne ammonia facility and 5 GW of hybrid projects. Reliance Industries announced a 1 GW AI data centre with a 6 GWp solar project and plans for a food park and biogas hubs.
KPI Green signs contracts with SJVN for 200 MW solar project in Khavda
KPI Green Energy has signed contract agreements with SJVN for a 200 MW AC solar project at the GIPCL Renewable Energy Park in Khavda. The contract value is Rs 696.50 crore excluding GST. KPI Green will act as the EPC partner and manage supply, civil works, handling and insurance. The company will also oversee testing, commissioning and performance demonstration along with a three year O&M period. KPI Green said the partnership reflects confidence from major public sector clients.
Rajasthan issues new SoP to fast track captive solar project approvals
The Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation has issued a Standard Operating Procedure for captive and third party renewable projects. Developers must show a net worth of Rs 1 crore per MW and submit the DPR, land records and a security deposit before clearance. Projects above 5 MW must add BESS equal to 5 per cent of capacity with two hours of backup. The SoP sets captive rules requiring 26 per cent equity and 51 per cent consumption and provides exemptions for co located RE and BESS plants. RRECL said the SoP formalises a single window system and sets timelines for NOCs, PPAs and commissioning.

MHI and J-POWER begin talks on onshore wind business transfer
Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Electric Power Development Company have started formal talks on transferring MHI’s domestic onshore wind business to J-POWER. The companies plan to finalise a definitive agreement after settling transaction conditions and aim to complete the transfer by April 1, 2026. MHI has supplied more than 4200 turbines across 11 countries and expects the transaction to broaden the use of its wind technology. J-POWER holds the second-largest domestic share in wind facilities and sees the move as a way to strengthen its development base. Both companies said the transfer will support future expansion and align with their ongoing business strategies.
