The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has recognised Deendayal Port Authority (Gujarat), V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority (Tamil Nadu), and Paradip Port Authority (Odisha) as green hydrogen hubs under the National Green Hydrogen Mission (NGHM).
Under the mission’s cluster-based model, ports will serve as key nodes for hydrogen development, helping overcome transport challenges, improve project viability, and achieve economies of scale.
Guidelines issued on June 27 for Hydrogen Valley Innovation Clusters (HVIC) and Green Hydrogen Hubs allow MNRE to recognise potential regions without direct financial support, enabling access to incentives under other central and state schemes.
The three ports will now qualify for benefits available under the National Green Hydrogen Mission and related policies. Their recognition is expected to attract investment, promote innovation, and advance India’s Net Zero target for 2070.
