NTPC and Avaada commit to large-scale solar, wind, and storage projects in Gujarat

NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NTPC REL), a wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL), has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Gujarat to develop solar parks and projects with a total capacity of 10 GW, alongside 5 GW of wind projects. The MoU was exchanged on 9 October 2025 during the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference in Mehsana, Gujarat.
On the same day, NTPC Limited also signed an MoU with the Gujarat government to explore opportunities in both conventional and non-conventional energy sectors, broadening collaboration across the state’s energy landscape.
Separately, Avaada Group signed an MoU with the Gujarat government to invest Rs 36,000 crore in solar, wind, and battery energy storage system (BESS) projects. Under this agreement, Avaada will develop 5 GW of solar, 1 GW of wind, and 5 GWh of BESS capacity across Kutch, Banaskantha, and Surendranagar districts. Project execution is planned between 2027 and 2030.
Recently, Avaada inaugurated a 280 MW solar project in Surendranagar under the Gujarat State Solar Policy. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the project, spanning 1,170 acres across Tavi and Varsani villages with an investment of Rs 1,500 crore. The plant uses Avaada Electro’s ALMM-certified TOPCon n-type bifacial PV modules. The Prime Minister also laid the foundation for Avaada’s upcoming 100 MW solar project in Vadodara district, covering 350 acres with an investment of Rs 400 crore.
