India’s non-fossil fuel power generation capacity has reached 250 gigawatts (GW) in 2025, rising from 81 GW in 2014, according to Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi.
Joshi stated that India’s installed non-fossil capacity has grown more than three times over the past decade. He said the expansion reflects steady progress across renewable and clean energy sources.
The minister noted that the 250 GW capacity comprises 123.13 GW solar, 52.68 GW wind, 55.22 GW hydro, 11.60 GW bio-energy and 8.78 GW nuclear power.
He also reiterated that India aims to achieve 500 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030, with the latest milestone strengthening the country’s path toward that target.
