Renewable energy company Neoen and solar developer Alight have started operations at the 100 megawatt-peak (MWp) Hultsfred solar farm in Småland, Sweden. The facility, which began supplying electricity to the E.ON distribution grid in April, is described as the country’s largest solar installation.
The project was jointly financed by Neoen and Alight, with additional structured debt from Danske Bank. H&M Group has a long-term power purchase agreement signed in 2022 to source 95 percent of the output by 2030. The facility is expected to generate 100 gigawatt-hours annually, enough to power about 18,000 households.
Neoen is the majority shareholder in the joint venture, with Alight as partner. Construction was carried out by Equans Solar & Storage and Solkompaniet, creating up to 120 jobs during the build phase.
With this project, Neoen’s Swedish portfolio has reached 304 MW, including wind and storage assets. The company has invested close to €200 million in Sweden since 2020.
