Prostarm wins 150 MW/300 MWh BESS project in Karnataka

Prostarm Info Systems Limited has won Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited’s (KPTCL) auction for a 150 MW/300 MWh standalone battery energy storage system (BESS) at the Doni substation in Gadag district. The project will operate on a build-own-operate model for 12 years.

The winning tariff is ₹254,000 per MW per month, inclusive of the state’s viability gap funding (VGF) component. Under VGF, Prostarm is eligible for the lower of ₹2.7 million or up to 30 per cent of the project’s capital cost.

In July 2025, Prostarm announced plans to set up a 1.2 GWh BESS manufacturing facility at Reliance MET City, Jhajjar, Haryana. The company provides power electronics and energy storage solutions, including UPS systems, lithium-ion battery packs, and solar hybrid systems. It has commissioned over 7.35 MW of rooftop solar capacity across 100 sites and is empanelled with NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam, Airports Authority of India, and RailTel Corporation.
